Oasis’s Oriental Collection

Oasis’s Oriental Collection has good points and bad points. On the plus side, the style is flattering no matter your shape and the cut is sleek and ultra feminine. It can be dressed up for work or dressed down on casual days and the accessories can add a fun and contemporary touch to an older outfit – great if you’re on a budget. The silk feels heavenly against your skin and has the advantage of being cool when it’s warm and warm when it’s cool.
On the downside, those hideous floral patterns are everywhere. They seem to be unavoidable at the moment and the silly shoulder details on a few of the dresses might drive you crazy. The tops can be a little shapeless looking and if you’re not careful, you could end up looking like a bag lady. Never a good look. However, there are a few key pieces that if you splash out on, you could make the look your own:

The Military Coat
This style is huge for winter 2011 and with the long length, nipped in waist and trendy funnell neck, it will keep the cold where it belongs and keep you looking as well as feeling great.
The Skinny Belt
There’s a big selection of these around with materials ranging from patent leather to leopard print. Jazz up that little black dress for parties.
The Long Scarf
Available in many materials, this is great for adding a touch of fun to an otherwise plain outfit. And it will keep you warm too.
And the ones to avoid:
The Lampshade Dress
Bad enough that you look like you’ve shot and skinned the sofa with that floral print, this makes your hips look enormous. Avoid.
Tunic Dress
Actually, if you can find one that has just one bold colour, this wouldn’t look too bad. It’s a flattering shape and versatile. But that print again… Yuck.
